Talk about a collaboration that took me by surprise! Dolce Vita for Target quietly debuted on Target.com recently. I first noticed it while helping my roommate search for combat boots. The “not available” sign next to the listing made me think I’d missed out. Turns out the boots aren’t for sale yet, and there are two more styles!
The Harlem Target store will be selling them when they officially open this Sunday, and they’ll be available online and in select Target stores August 22nd. I own quite a few pairs of Dolce Vita shoes, so I’m really excited to see how these turn out. And their release comes at a perfect time–I was just thinking about how I need some new closed toed shoes. As much as I like them, 90% of my shoes are sandals–and that is just not practical during cold nyc winters.
EDIT: More shoes have been added! Studded ballet flats are now on Target.com too!
Thursday was one of those NYC days that was just jam packed with events and parties. One of the things I was most looking forward to was the press preview of the Zac Posen for Target Shopping Party! When I first heard about the event, I was ecstatic– It meant I didn’t have to stay up until 3am next weekend waiting to place an order! Really though, it’s always amazing to see Target’s designer collaborations in person, a feat which isn’t always easy in New York City. If you have an opportunity in the next 24 hours to do the same, TAKE IT.
I was really impressed with the Zac Posen line. You might hear me gush over Target a lot on this blog (IMO they really can do no wrong), but seriously this collection blew me away. The quality and selection in this collection was phenomenal. And even better, the sizing seemed to run more “normal” than some of the collections of the past. Only the pink animal print dress seemed to run small, from what I saw.
My favorite dress in the collection!
The Like performed while buyers snatched up their favorite pieces.
The pieces that impressed me most:
The Brocade Floral Dress*
The Red Leather & Suede Jacket
The Navy and Black Snap Dress*
Ruffled Red Prom Dress
* The 2 dresses I bought.
This dress is amazing:
I went right when the event started, at 7. But I only had a short time before I had to head to a second event, so I missed Zac, Claire Danes, and Selma Blair. Everything looked amazing though, and the way it was presented was beautiful. I hear it most sizes quickly sold out during the preview! It looked like a lot of stock was still available, hidden in a back room for the public opening. But if you want to shop early, I suggest going asap!
I shot a quick video of some of the mannequins wearing the collection, and The Like doing their sound check:
When I left at 8pm, there were already two girls in line:
Hope you two got everything you wanted!
Both of the dresses I got are gorgeous, but this is my favorite Target dress ever: Close up detail of my brocade dress. Everyone I’ve shown it to thinks it’s a $350+ dress!
If you went, what did you get? What do you plan on buying next week?
Next week, for 24hours only, Zac Posen for Target will be available at a special pop up shop in NYC. The store opens at 11pm on April 15th.
I’ll be there, camera in tow, to get a first hand account of the collection a full week before it arrives in stores!
The pop up is near Port Authority, at 481 8th Avenue at 34th Street.
Shop the full collection while listening to performances by The Like and DJ Kid America. But hurry, the pop up closes April 16th at 11pm!
Finally, the rest of the images from the Zac Posen for Target lookbook have been released! I posted four images from this month’s Teen Vogue a few weeks back. And now, you can see them all! There are tons of images of the line– here are my favorite pieces from the collection:
My #1:
Another dress I’m definitely buying:
Love this leather jacket!
I’d probably look silly in this, but it is beautiful:
The collection is also featured in the April issues of ELLE, VOGUE, and People Style Watch.
It’s a big departure from the red carpet looks of his line for Austrailan Target, but I think it will be a hit!
Zac Posen for Target will be available on April 25th in stores, and online at Target.com.
Newly released photos of Zac Posen for Target are featured in the April issue of Teen Vogue. Back in January, I posted the lookbook, but was asked by Target to remove it. But now two of the original images, and two new images shot just for Teen Vogue have been released!
This Dress is ADORABLE!
Prices might be a bit higher for this collection, but most of the dresser are convertible!
“We made the ruffles detachable, like a Judy Garland apron,” says the designer of a fire-engine red strapless number with frilled skirt from his new Target collection. “You can wear it as a skirt over the dress; undo it and drape it over your shoulders à la Cristóbal Balenciaga; or if you don’t want any frou, take it off and you have a sexy date dress.”
Read More of the designer’s interview at Teen Vogue’s Zac Posen feature on Yahoo, and in the April issue.
Zac Posen for Target will be in stores and online at Target.com on April 25th.
Thanks to readers over at The Fashion Spot for pointing this out.
Yesterday I stopped by the Target in White Plains, NY to shop the JPG for Target collection. The selection in that particular store was smaller– only part of the full collection. Some of the available items had already sold out in all but the smallest sizes, but a few racks still remained:
If you’re a night owl like me, you can catch the launch of the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection tonight on Target.com! The line launches at Three AM Eastern/Midnight Pacific Sunday March 7th. I’ll be stopping by Target Sunday to see the line in person, flip cam in tow! Unless it’s sold out, look forward to a video of what I find.
JPG for Target will be available in 250 stores (Out of around 1,300+ locations). Better check the availability before you stop by your local Target.
In New York, the line will be available in the following stores:
While doing a bit of fashion week research this past week, I discovered some cute new pieces showcased on Norma Kamali’s web site. Turns out they are part of the upcoming NK for walmart spring collection!
Last summer I posted about the NK batwing cardigan (and the months it took me to finally track one down). I’m happy to say it’s back for sale once again, along with a whole collection of new pieces for the spring 2010.
Known for her innovative clothing that can be worn multiple ways, Norma Kamali carries on the aesthetics of her namesake line in her Walmart collection, which debuted in 2007. Many designers “dumb down” their brand’s characteristics when it comes to collaborations with mass retailers. Not Norma Kamali! As in her past collaborations (with brands like Spiegel and Everlast), she manages to hang on to her trademark designs while bringing them to a larger audience. You can see many of the standout pieces of her namesake line translated into similar looks for less at walmart.
Here are some of my favorite pieces from the spring collection. Most of these will be available on walmart.com February 1st!
Sleeveless All in One Dress.
Sleeveless Tie Waist Dress.
All in One Dress.
Watch an animation of the many ways to wear the all in one dress here.
Rectangle Top
My personal favorite: Motorcycle Jacket.
Also available in grey!
Blanket Sweater. Looks like my typical Sunday afternoon outfit, hair and all.
Bandeau Tankini: A cute take on the retro swim suit trend in a modern fabric.
Elastic Sandal. Hope they are as comfortable as they look!
Most of the items come in various colors, and are available in size XS-XXL. The full line includes swimwear, accessories, athletic wear, business wear such as blazers and trousers, dresses, and more casual jersey loungewear. The best part: the most expensive Norma Kamali for Walmart item available on the site right now retails for $24.00!
The walmart batwing cardigan in particular is a near replica of the original, much more expensive version. I once compared my own cardigan to a friends (which cost hundreds of dollars more), and other than thicker fabric saw almost no difference in the quality! I’ve been incredibly happy with my Norma Kamali for walmart cardigan, and definitely plan on picking up some more pieces once the spring line arrives. One downside: not every walmart carries the line–I called many mystified stores (in three states!) looking for the batwing last summer only to have staffers have no clue what I was talking about. So it’s probably best to research availability before you go on a walmart run. Or just shop online.
Need Supply recently hosted a “design your dream show” contest in collaboration with lookbook.nu, and Jeffrey Campbell. The winning shoe designed by lookbook user Emily L is now available for pre-order!
In case you somehow haven’t noticed, wedges are very “in” right now. The harness style straps, and round stud detail take the Jeffrey Campbell C’est Moi wedges to the next level. The shoes come in both black leather, and gray suede, and retail for $135.
I’m already mentally in sandal and ballet slipper mode, despite the fact that there is still snow on the ground and it’s freezing cold in NYC. Really liking all of the spring JC shoes I’ve seen so far, but still waiting for some more creative flats! Come on Jeffrey!
