Matt Bernson Holiday Sample Sale

One of my absolute favorite sales of the year, the Matt Bernson sample sale, starts tomorrow! I’ve been wearing Matt’s sandals almost as long as I’ve lived in NYC. And I always stop by this bi-annual sale to stock up on more– not only because they are cute and comfortable (which is a must for a city dominated by foot traffic) but the deals are always OUTSTANDING.

He also designs boots, oxfords and wedges now too.

I recommend going early for the best selection, as this sale always draws a huge crowd!

Vena Cava and Loeffler Randal Sample Sale

Advance warning: It’s sample sale season! What better way to kick off the spring sales than with Vena Cava and Loeffler Randall. No word on whether both brands’ amazing shoes will be available, but if they are, I’d plan on arriving extra early. VC’s flatforms are epic, and you never know– the coveted Suno X Loeffler Randall wedges might make an appearance. ; )

Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show Fall 2010

Starting today, the tri-annual Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show is open for business at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea! This season the show’s theme is “Boardwalk Empire”. Costumes used for filming will be on display, and goods from over 90 vendors will be on sale. The event is also known to attract fashion designers and celebrities. Last season, Rachel Zoe was spotted browsing the booths.

Alexander Wang Sample Sale: Starting Tomorrow!

EDIT: Looks like the sale is now open, a few hours early!

Earlier in the week while I was walking around shooting street style in Soho, I bumped into a bunch of interns unloading a truck full of clothing for the Alexander Wang sample sale.

I hung out for a few minutes watching the merchandise coming off the truck, but quickly decided there wasn’t anything I was really interested in. A lot of “sweats”: sweat pants, sweat shirts, sweat dresses, etc. Not really my thing. I didn’t see any shoes or bags being unloaded (what I’d be REALLY interested in), but racked.com has a preview of what’s to come and mentions a lot of accessories. Supposedly there will be over 8,000 items. The stacks of clothing I glimpsed before the windows were papered over were pretty massive. Madison Avenue Spy got a preview of the merch as well, and seemed to find better stock than what I saw. If there is something you desperately want, or you need a sold out size, I’d brave the expected insane line and check it out. Overall though, it doesn’t sound like the merch will be that much cheaper than current sale prices on sites like shopbop and La Garconne. The boots I wanted were (last time I checked) literally the same exact price online.

Brimfield: Summer Show!

I’ve been so busy with photo projects, I almost forgot: this week is the second of three seasonal market weeks at the Brimfield Antique Show! Brimfield is America’s largest flea market. If you’re anywhere near NY, CT, PA or MA, it’s a must do! People come from all over the world to buy and sell goods at the market, made up of over twenty lots featuring over 5,000 dealers! They literally have everything you could possibly imagine.

I’m off to bed so I can get a (relatively) early start Thursday. I’ll have my camera ready to document any amazing finds. If you have the means to get there, GO! The summer show continues until July 18th. But if you can’t make it this week, the fall show is September 7-12th (right during NYFW!).
