WHAT: Spring 2011 Collection
WHERE: Grand Promenade, Lincoln Center
BACKSTAGE: Artists from MAC Cosmetics, Bumble and Bumble, and CND nails prepped the models for the presentation.
Val Garland for MAC created an earthly, pottery inspired look to compliment the collection.
Eyes: Megametal Eyeshadows in Dalliance used in the inner corners. Spectacle of Yourself on the lid. Lower lash line, lined in Teddy. A clear balm was applied to the entire lid, and lashes were coated with black Zoom Lash mascara to finish.
Lips: Coated in Flesh gloss.
Hair was styled by Laurent Philippon for Bumble and Bumble. A side parted, loosely braided bun was pinned onto the left side of the head, covering the eyes for a more mysterious effect.
Amanda Fontanarrosa for CND led the nail team, which used the beige shade “Desert Suede”, finished with a super matte topcoat on the models’ nails.
The presentation was held outdoors on one of the coldest days of S/S ’11 NYFW. Despite the cold, the models pulled through, and drew a huge crowd to the Grand Promenade, including many celebrities.
INSPIRATION: French ceramist Roger Capron. Vallauris, South of France.
VERDICT: One of those rare collections where I can say I’d buy and wear nearly every item. Gorgeous colors and prints, airy, flowing fabrics, and impeccably woven leather macramé made this collection one of my favorites of Spring 2011. I’ll be especially vigilant stalking stores for the knee high lace up gladiator sandals.
