RACHEL ANTONOFF S/S 2013

I’ve been a longtime fan of Rachel Antonoff‘s designs. In fact, her first presentation was the very first fashion show I ever covered for this blog! So it makes me happy to see that she is finally getting the recognition and publicity she deserves.

One of the things taking her career to the next level: her collaboration with Bass Shoes. Full disclosure: I am ADDICTED to these shoes. Not only are they comfortable, but the designs –especially of her oxfords– are unparalleled in cuteness, and comfort at their price point. I own multiple pairs, and whenever I wear my black & clear oxfords, in particular, I have strangers stopping me on the street to ask about them.

When I stopped by backstage before Rachel’s show, the first thing I noticed wasn’t the hair, makeup, or clothes– it was the new shoes. I am so excited to say that there are more clear shoes on the way!

Once I managed to pull myself away from the shoes, I got the scoop on the beauty for Rachel’s S/S 13 show.

MAC Senior Artist Keri Blair designed a look that captured the spirit of “naughty girls” who were “good at heart, but still spoiled, entitled, and in trouble.”

The black/berry lip color was meant to mimic lips “stained by sneaking wine.”

To get the look: it may just be easier to take a glance at the very detailed face chart:

CND’s Candice Manacchio created 3 different nail looks (which took 6 nail techs over 65 hours to make!) The designs were inspired by the collections jelly shoes, the visors and collars of the clothing, and Rachel’s friends and family.

The three looks:

The white & clear nails inspired by the jellies featured the names or Rachel’s friends and family members written in Sharpie.

The nails also matched a pair of shoes!

Cutler Salon’s Jenny Balding created a sleek and smooth hairdo inspired by “country girls”, featuring hair swept under to the left side.

To get the look: Hair was blown dry, with ends straightened using a flat-iron. Hair was finished with Redken Fashion Works Hairspray.

As usual, Rachel’s collection was whimsical and fun, this time presented in a lawn party format.
