Calla S/S 2013

CALLA S-S 2013 002

CALLA’s Spring 2013 presentation was one I ended up accidentally stumbling upon during Saturday night of NYFW at Milk Studios. And boy, was I glad I found it— the collection ended up being one of my hands down favorites of the S/S ’13 season.

Both the floral and more abstract watercolor prints were absolutely phenomenal, and the unexpected polka-dot eye makeup (which I will SO be DIYing soon) took the entire look to the next level.

Call It Spring Grand Opening Event

Right before Labor Day weekend started, I was invited to check out the new Call It Spring shoe store in the Manhattan Mall near 34th Street. A sort of sister store to ALDO, Call It Spring has dozens of cute and trendy shoes, that won’t break the bank!

Shine Media PR and Call It Spring both hosted the grand opening event, which drew quite a crowd! Guest browsed the shoe selection, while sipping delicious cocktails like white sangria. And a DJ spun in the back of the store.

I actually arrived a bit late, as I was making a mad dash from a photo shoot down in DUMBO. I’d read reports on twitter about how many people were there. Even arriving in the last thirty minutes, the event was still packed! Thankfully, I still made it in time to join in the fun and pick out some cute shoes.

The men’s section.

CIS also carries some great bags as well!

I was lucky enough to go home with 3 great pairs, perfect for the upcoming fall season. Every season, I’m guilty of buying too many sandals then have nothing to wear in the fall and winter. So they were just what I needed!

The perfect granny bootie.

Another pair of warm booties.

Thank you to Robyn at Shine and to Call It Spring for the great shoes!

Aldo Wants You to be a Designer

ALDO shoes and Teen Vogue have paired up for a DIY design contest where you can win a chance to collaborate on a new shoe or accessory style and have your design mass produced!

All you have to do is design a DIY project using Aldo’s shoes or accessories, and upload a photo to the web site. If for some reason you don’t feel like entering, you can browse the site’s tutorials for about a dozen DIY projects you can easily do at home:

Cowboy style:

They aren’t the most descriptive DIY instructions, but if you have any crafting experience at all, you can figure them out.

This contest comes right in time for my own DIY night! I have a pair of aldo flats I’ve wanted to stud for ages. It’s rainy and gross in nyc, so tonight is the perfect night to start working on an entry. Or just get crafty and have some fun.

Visit the contest site for more info.
