Oscar de la Renta Bridal 2014

Oscar de la Renta Bridal 2014 - 241

Every Oscar de la Renta show I’ve ever attended has been magical. But there’s something about Bridal, when it overwhelms you with tulle and lace, and let’s you indulge in every princess fantasy you never even knew you had that just makes it that much more of an experience.

Monday was my second Oscar bridal show, and while I loved last year’s collection’s Spanish influences, I ended up being just as big of a fan of the 2014 collection’s romanticism and sweetness.

I’m sharing a few less photos than usual, since a portion of my backstage beauty Bridal Market Week content is due to end up online and in print for the August/September issue of BRIDES. (Expect to see more from the 4 other shows I covered this week once I’ve been given the all clear to post!) As always, I live-pinned a portion of the show on the OdlR bridal pinterest board as well.

I absolutely LOVED the hair accessories/head pieces this season:

It’s a given that Oscar’s collections are always impeccable. But one thing that strikes me time after time is how well it’s all styled. Every detail down to the belts, accessories, and hair complements the clothing, and overall tone of the collection.

Badgley Mischka S/S 2012: Backstage

Badgley Mischka Spring 2012-34

Backstage at Badgley Mischka’s Spring 2012 show, the word of the day was “glamour”.

Nail guru Deborah Lippmann created a brand new color to compliment the drama of the show’s hair and makeup looks, and celebrate the “power of dressing up”.

Inspired by the rose gold Rolex watch, the color, The Glamourous Life (which took over 3 years to develop!) was painted onto short, rounded nails and on toenails; leaving them neat in appearance, and satiny–but not frosty– in finish.

Faces were first prepped with Rodin’s Olio Lusso. Next, Pecheux used Mineralized Charged Water Moisture Gel to hydrate, followed by MAC Sculpt Foundation for coverage. On eyes, Metal-X Cream Shadow in Palladium was applied below the brow, with Metal-X Cream Shadow in Vintage Coin on lids. Mac Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Forever Green was used to created the winged-out cat eye look. MAC Haught and Naughty Lash Mascara topped off the dramatic eye. Finally, MAC lustre Lipstick in Flamingo was applied to lips.

Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2012

ODLREffect2

Really, what can I say that hasn’t been said before (and by someone much more eloquent than I) about Oscar de la Renta? Decades of designs later, and he’s still managing to impress us all.

Each season, Oscar re-interprets classics, while mixing in dashes of what’s new and fresh. Usually while indulging in a few of my favorite things– sheer fabrics, sequins, and bright jewel tones along the way. There were a lot of all 3 in the pre-fall collection. With a few new stand out show favorites for me as well.

Backstage pre-show I found the usual calm of an Oscar show. Models sipped tea while having their cheeks rouged and hair pinned into one of the coolest, yet simplest buns I’ve ever seen.

This hat, on one of the ladies working backstage also caught my eye:

More tea!

Upstairs a bit later, the show, set to another great soundtrack featuring the likes of Coldplay and Rihanna, began.

One key thing that blew me away– the hats, by Patricia Underwood:

I loved the updated take on a 1920’s cloche, re-imagined in sheer fabrics.

The best (and most consistent) thing about Oscar is his attention to detail:
