RODARTE SPRING/SUMMER 2019

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 047

Last September, one of my long term fashion week goals was finally achieved: I was able to photograph backstage at the Rodarte Spring 2019 show. And it was just as gorgeous as I always dreamed it would be!!

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 004

Morgan Taylor Lead Artist Eichi Matsunaga created an Art Deco inspired nail in metallic colors with crystal accents.

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 017

To get the look: Polish colors including “Give Me Gold”, “Could Have Foiled Me”, and “No Way Rosé” were used, then topped off with 3 tiny rainbow colored crystals glued to each of the nails.

Odile Gilbert for TRESemmé created one of the most gorgeous hairdo’s I’ve seen in all my years of covering fashion week. The stunning, rose filled romantic hair completely stunned everyone who saw it.

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 070

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 062

To get the look: stylists used the brand’s Sultra After Hours 1-inch and 1.5-inch Clipless Curling Wands. Hair was curled by alternating twisting hair towards and away from the face for a natural, loosely waved look. Tresemmé Fresh & Clean Dry Shampoo was used to add body, then finished off with Tresemmé Two Extra Hold Hair Spray to keep hair in place. To complete the look, hair was accented with fresh roses in varying colors and sizes, secured with hair wraps and bobby pins. Each of the 48 models had a custom selection of roses, by floral artist Joseph Free! The models were then paired with veils, bows, or metal hair accessories in bird or crown varieties.

James Kaliardos for NARS created bright, vibrant looks in 3 different eyeshadow shades, which varied amongst the models.

Rodarte Spring-Summer 2019 020

To get the look: lids were prepped with NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. Eyes were then accented with NARS eyeshadows in Douro (yellow), Baby Jane (teal blue), and Domination (hot pink) in a rectangular design. Which was made extra vibrant by pressing the pigment onto the lids with a medium-sized shadow brush. To complete the look, NARS red-orange lipstick shade Powermatte Lip Pigment in “Don’t Stop” was applied to the lips of every model.

SELF PORTRAIT F/W 2016

SELF PORTRAIT FALL-WINTER 2016 037

Self Portrait is one of the most exciting recent additions to the New York Fashion Week lineup. I’ve been a fan of the brand for a while now, after discovering them on ASOS.com, and I was thrilled to see they’d decided to start showing the new collections in NYC last year. Known for innovative mixes of lace with unconventional fabrics on dresses, the Fall collection included the addition of separates, turtlenecks, and bomber jackets. Backstage, Bumble and Bumble stylist Jimmy Paul developed a look that complimented the fresh faced makeup, with heavy, fringe-y clip in bangs– used to create “uniformity” amongst the models.

SELF PORTRAIT FALL-WINTER 2016 001

SELF PORTRAIT FALL-WINTER 2016 002

To get the look:  Apply Bb.Gel into hands and pull hair into a high ponytail and secure with elastic, creating a loop in the hair and allowing the rest of the ponytail to fall. For added shine, apply more Bb.Gel. Attach a clip-in bang and dampen with Prep. Each bang was razor cut to personalize the look to each model. – Via Bumble and Bumble

Gucci Westman for Tata Harper beautified models’ skin, creating a romantic, luminous, fresh faced look.

To get the look: Prep skin with Tata Harper Beautifying Face Oil, then use Reparative Moisturizer to achieve a radiant glow. Apply Restorative Eye Cream around the eyes to “refresh tired looking eyes”. Contour under cheekbones with a light bronzer, use nude lip gloss (with matching liner) to enhance lips, and apply matte brown eyeshadow to the top and bottom of eyes.

DELPOZO S/S 2016

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 094

DELPOZO is a brand that almost seems as if it would be more suitable to show at Paris fashion week. Frequently referred to as “demi-couture”, the brand’s epic, handmade collections are the highlight of my every NYFW, and the perfect way to end the frenzy of each season.

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 092

Backstage, the look was all about a fresh face topped off with glitter eyes, and ultra-long, sleek hair.

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 017

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 011

MAC lead makeup artist Monica Marmo described the look as having “skin super fresh like a flower, with metallic eyes for a little controversy.” This is “a woman from the future who is modern, but soft and beautiful.”

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 010

Moroccanoil Creative Director Antonio Corral Calero created a very long, easy hairdo, with a twist– literally! Hair featured a small, twisted ponytail in the center.

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 022

To get the look:

Apply 22-24″ extensions, for hair that is not naturally long.
Starting with damp hair, apply Moroccanoil Treatment and Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to create the foundation of the style. Blow dry sleek and smooth.

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 007

Once thoroughly dry, create a deep left side part. Gather 3″ sections at each side of the part and mist with hairspray. Comb sections back behind the ears and secure underneath the bulk of the hair at the nape of the neck with an elastic. This small ponytail should be hidden.
Flat iron all of the loose hair, gently rolling the iron from the mid-shaft to ends to create a natural bend.
Brush all of the loose hair smooth into a very low and loose ponytail – about mid-back – and secure with an elastic.
Use your finger to divide the ponytail in half above the elastic (creating a hole). Flip the ponytail up and through the hole to create the twisted style.
Set the style with a gentle mist of hairspray. — via Moroccanoil.

Finally, Julie Kandalec for ESSIE created an adorable, subtle glitter nail that perfectly complimented the eye makeup, using Sparkle On Top.

DELPOZO- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 016

Two things I love the most about Delpozo collections: they always use interesting fabrics and materials, and play with volume. I can’t think of many other modern designers who have so much fun creating unique shapes and garments out of fabric.

CHROMAT S/S 2016

CHROMAT- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 086

I absolutely love photographing the Chromat show every season. Watching the brand grow from a small lingerie line, to the powerhouse of design and innovation they are today has been quite a treat.

And it’s virtually guaranteed that each season’s show will feature heart-stopping beauty looks:

CHROMAT- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 026

Dominque Samuel for MAYBELLINE New York created a bright, colorful but still sporty look to complement the SS16 collection.

CHROMAT- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 019

CHROMAT- SPRING-SUMMER 2016 011

To get the look:

Samuel perfected models’ skin with Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation, followed by Face Studio Master Conceal. Next, DreamLumi Touch Highlighting Conceer was applied under eys and nose to reflect light. Face Studio Master Contour was used to shape and accentuate the face. Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR in Tenacious Teal was applied to create the blue brows. Lip Studio Color Blue in Cherry Cherry Bang Bang was applied under eyes, with Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Taupe with me applied to add shine to the upper lids. One coat of The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara finished the eye makeup, with Baby Lips Balm applied to lips to complete the look.

HONOR S/S 2012: Backstage

HONOR Spring 2012-33

HONOR’s Spring 2012 collection was one of the most delicate, girly collections– and biggest hits– of the season. After being told how very girly the collection was, Designer Giovanna Randall decided to juxtapose “imperfect” elements alongside the polished feminine pieces. “I decided to go all the way and make it ultra feminine, but also with something slightly ‘off.’ I had a vision of creating an army of angry dolls that had been played with too much, not precious dolls that sit on a shelf.”

Backstage, Catherine Deneuve was a key inspiration.
HONOR Spring 2012-49

Bumble and Bumble’s James Pescis created a youthful 60’s inspired ponytail.
HONOR Spring 2012-25

To get the look: Hair was sprayed with Bumble and Bumble Prep, and Thickening Spray, then blown dry.

HONOR Spring 2012-4

Hair was styled with a severe side part, covering the forehead and the edge of one eye. Hair was then sprayed with Bumble and Bumble Dry Shampoo for texture, and pulled back into a loose low ponytail at the back of the head. To finish, hair was brushed through using the stylist’s hands, and topped off with Spray de Mode.
