Harajuku Lovers Wicked Style Fragrances: Now at Sephora!

Gwen at Sephora 52

The five new Harajuku Lovers Wicked Style perfumes that were due to be released in mid-November are now available on Sephora.com!

In addition to the individual fragrances, there are two gift sets with smaller bottles of perfume. A set of five 0.33oz Mini bottles, or purse size roller-ball fragrances make the full collection available for all budgets.

I’m thinking of picking up the roller ball set:

I absolutely love the “G” perfume I picked up at Gwen Stefani’s Fashion’s Night Out signing. As one of my friends has said, it smells very similar to the 1980’s Debbie Gibson perfume “Electric Youth”, which along with Love’s Baby Soft was one of the very first perfumes I ever wore.

Fashion’s Night Out: Gwen Stefani at Sephora Soho

Gwen at Sephora 50

It might have been over two weeks ago, but I’m still giddy about my Fashion’s Night Out experience at Sephora Soho. I never would have guessed I’d be spending the second FNO doing virtually the same thing I did on the first! Once I heard Gwen Stefani would be at Sephora signing her five new Harajuku Lovers perfumes, all previous plans were canceled.

When I arrived at Sephora to purchase my perfume that morning at 9:40am, I estimated that I was already about 60th in line. Luckily, my guess was correct, and I was able to purchase two of the Harajuku Lovers perfumes and get a wristband for the signing.

The store had already been decked out for the occasion:

I returned to Sephora about an hour before Gwen was due to arrive. Thankfully, I’d also been confirmed for press access for the blog, so I was able to set up in the photographer’s area while we all waited for Gwen. The line for the signing already stretched to the back of the store, and what seemed like a few hundred onlookers crowded around Sephora’s windows waiting to catch a glimpse of Gwen. It was nearly impossible for late arrivals to get inside! I heard a few anxious discussions about fans outside possible breaking the glass. It freaked out quite a few of us inside the store.

While we waited, I captured some more of the atmosphere:

Two of the Harajuku Girls came out for a photo op:

All of the sudden, the crowd began to cheer, and Gwen soon appeared:

Gwen gave a few quick tv interviews about the perfumes:

The crowd outside had been going nuts the entire time, so Gwen decided to pay them a visit:

They nearly started a riot after Gwen appeared in the windows. I hear people were jumping on top of cars, and the entire block of Broadway in front of Sephora was impassable.

About to start the signing:

My friend Veronica had been holding my spot in line while I finished my press coverage. Once the signing started, I hopped over, and we waited to meet Gwen.

Even though I met Gwen last year, I was nervous. She’s pretty much the only celebrity I actually consider a role model and an inspiration. Thankfully, she’s also hands down one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She just radiates kindness. While she was signing my perfume, we had a chance to quickly talk about me meeting her at the last FNO (Gwen said I looked familiar!), and I gave Gwen one of my moo business cards with her photo from a 2002 No Doubt show. She said she’d check out the photos, because she loves to see what fans shoot. She also signed a 5×7 copy of the same photo for me after I told her it’s one of my favorite photos I’ve ever shot.

We talked so much, eventually a security guard told me it was time to go! I feel very lucky that I had a chance to chat with Gwen again, and get my new “G” Harajuku Lovers perfume signed! The little felt-head bottles are absolutely adorable. I went home with G and Love (which smells a lot like grapes!). I can’t wait until the rest of the collection hits Sephora stores in November. I think I might have to buy them all!

Thanks so much to Gwen, Sephora, and Coty for hosting this amazing event!

The perfume set will be available in limited supplies during Fashion’s Night Out at Sephora in NYC, where Gwen herself will be making an appearance. After that, expect them at Sephora and in department stores starting in November.

I can’t wait to try the new scents! The original scents are downright delicious.

L.A.M.B Handbag Sample Sale Report

If you haven’t yet stopped by Savvy NYC’s L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers sample sale, now would be a good time. Staffers told shoppers who went on the first day that 90 more boxes were due to arrive today! I hear Jill Stuart and Kidrobot bags are also now included in the sale.

I went early yesterday morning right when the sale opened, and was able to snag a couple cute handbags I’d never seen, that I’m not quite sure actually went into production. One of the bags even had a small manufacturers tag listing the sample details and reference numbers. Overall, the sale was quite a bit smaller than the sales of the past. A lot of the merchandise was older, some from as far back as the very first season of lux l.a.m.b bags. But prices were lower than ever! This was my 4th or 5th l.a.m.b bag sale. I can’t even keep track. The bags I really wanted (Etoile Hobos) didn’t seem to be in stock. But I still went home happy:

This bag is ridiculously orange, but I love it! It’s a sample.

Small messenger style bag. Not sure if it was ever produced. It reminds me of the Proenza PS1.

Wallets & Key Pouches for myself, and gifts for friends.

Before I left, I shot a quick video of the items in stock. You can see some sample/never produced bags on the arms of fellow shoppers:

The sale is at 307 W. 38th st, starting at 10am daily, and continuing until 6pm Friday (Pretty sure it’s been extended an extra day!).

L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers Sample Sale!

It’s time for another one of my favorite bi-annual sample sales! The L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers sale promises some of the best handbag deals in NYC. Last season, large handbags were only $150!

Prices usually decrease drastically on the last day, so if you can hold out you’ll get an even better deal!

L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers Handbag Sample Sale

This morning I got up freakishly early to meet my friend Alison at the Savvy NYC loft for the l.a.m.b handbag sample sale. I’d received an email a few weeks back about the sale, and the prices listed were just too good to pass up. I don’t usually go to sales that start so early, but today I made it right before before the 8am start time. Which was lucky, because a long line had already formed down the street, and only 5 people were being let in at a time.

After waiting about ten minutes, we were allowed in to the sale. The ten shoppers ahead of me all were gathered around a sales girl setting out wallets, so I made a quick dash around the room and grabbed four of the handbags that I liked best. The kid robot section went pretty much ignored by most of the shoppers, but seemed to have a lot of selection. Harajuku Lovers bags were also plentiful, with designs from past and current seasons available. I was sad that very few current season lamb bags were out (about ten designs, compared to the past sales many more), no laptop bags were available, and none that appeared to be “samples” (I bought an amazing unreleased bullseye lamb bag last summer, and would have liked another rarity). Most were overstock, or Nordstrom returns. But the selection was huge, with bags ranging from the first season rasta signature print bags, to fall ’09 neon graffiti print bags.
