Erickson Beamon F/W 2012: Backstage

Erickson Beamon 68

Between the sparkling jewels, and amazing hair and makeup, Erickson Beamon’s backstage surely contained some of the most gorgeous imagery I encountered all fw12 fashion week.

To prep models’ skin before makeup, Arcona for freshened and plumped faces to revitalize and restore the effects of adding and removing so much makeup during fashion week.

First, skin was treated with Arcona Triad Pads, to remove existing makeup and tone skin. Peptide Hydrating Complex, then Hydrating Serum were used to plump skin, and create a dewy look. To finish, Eye Dew was smoothed over the eye area to create a base for the show’s intense smoky eye.

(Full disclosure: since this show, I’ve been using the Arcona Triad Pads regularly. And –especially after not using toner for the past few years– I saw a huge difference with my skin within a week!)

MAC lead makeup artist Fatima Thomas created a “vampy 1920’s flapper” look, that modernized vintage glamour.

To get the look:
MAC Pro Paint Stick in Black Black was blended over the entire lid, followed by a dusting of MAC Eye Shadow in Carbon. MAC False Lashes Extreme Black was used to coat lashes, which, when drying were then dusted with MAC Pigment in Violet to give lashes a purple tint. To finish, MAC Pro Lipmix in Fuchsia and MAC Red Lipstick were blended together, to create the perfect vampy red shade.

A faux, pinned up bob, created by Salon AKS hair lead stylist Nyree, for Phyto for rounded out the 1920’s look.

To get the look: hair was wrapped tightly around a tail comb, then set with a flat iron to create imperfect curls. Hair was then set with Phyto Professional Strong Sculpting Gel, and Phyto Professional Wet Gel.

Made Her Think S/S 2011

Smashed Talon Chokers

For Spring 2011, designer Meredith Kahn’s Made Her Think collection was inspired by Gypsies and fortune tellers. Pieces even come with “spells” for good fortune!

Not surprisingly, I’d wear pretty much every piece in this collection. I love that MHT jewelry staples like armor rings and stack-able bracelets are updated and made fresh again each season.

Some of the most unique rings I’ve ever seen!

Made Her Think continues set the bar for metal based jewelry. Other designers may garner inspiration, but there really isn’t anything like Meredith’s creations!

Made Her Think

Just in case you missed the big sale last month at Save Fashion, jewelry brand Made Her Think, famous for their mix of edgy and beautiful is having a 60% off sale starting tomorrow at their studio on Chrystie street. I know I regret not picking up any of their amazing studded rings and necklaces, so this sale is not to be missed!
