WHO: Jeremy Laing
WHAT: Spring 2011 Collection
WHERE: 9/16/10, Milk Studios
Backstage at Jeremy Laing, Marco Santini for ION Studio led a team of stylists in creating a “do rag” inspired hair style.
Hair on top of the head was slicked back:
The bottom section of hair was left loose, and held in place by a horizontal strip of hair, woven across the width:
The concept was inspired by the woven head pieces Jeremy created for some of his models:
Hung Vanngo for MAC led the team of make up artists, who left faces fresh, with subtle splashes of color on eyes and lips. Powder was dusted on the face. Eyes were brushed with gray shadow, but remained free of eye liner or mascara. Orange lipstick, complimenting the colors in the collection, was used on the lips.

Last minute touch ups are made.
Once the show was ready to start, I quickly ran out to the media riser to snag a spot.
About to begin!
For Spring, Jeremy decided to forgo the his usual prints for solid blocks of color.
A rose patten was the lone print in the collection:
INSPIRATION: Flags flapping in the wind (via Style.com)
My favorite piece in the collection:
VERDICT: I found Jeremy’s creative mix of materials intriguing. Many of the looks had hints of a minimalist origin, but were made more interesting by being crafted with unusual fabrics like leather, and sheer materials. Traditional silhouettes slightly altered kept things current.
