One of my absolute favorite sales of the year, the Matt Bernson sample sale, starts tomorrow! I’ve been wearing Matt’s sandals almost as long as I’ve lived in NYC. And I always stop by this bi-annual sale to stock up on more– not only because they are cute and comfortable (which is a must for a city dominated by foot traffic) but the deals are always OUTSTANDING.
Advance warning: It’s sample sale season! What better way to kick off the spring sales than with Vena Cava and Loeffler Randall. No word on whether both brands’ amazing shoes will be available, but if they are, I’d plan on arriving extra early. VC’s flatforms are epic, and you never know– the coveted Suno X Loeffler Randall wedges might make an appearance. ; )
EDIT: Looks like the sale is now open, a few hours early!
Earlier in the week while I was walking around shooting street style in Soho, I bumped into a bunch of interns unloading a truck full of clothing for the Alexander Wang sample sale.
I hung out for a few minutes watching the merchandise coming off the truck, but quickly decided there wasn’t anything I was really interested in. A lot of “sweats”: sweat pants, sweat shirts, sweat dresses, etc. Not really my thing. I didn’t see any shoes or bags being unloaded (what I’d be REALLY interested in), but racked.com has a preview of what’s to come and mentions a lot of accessories. Supposedly there will be over 8,000 items. The stacks of clothing I glimpsed before the windows were papered over were pretty massive. Madison Avenue Spy got a preview of the merch as well, and seemed to find better stock than what I saw. If there is something you desperately want, or you need a sold out size, I’d brave the expected insane line and check it out. Overall though, it doesn’t sound like the merch will be that much cheaper than current sale prices on sites like shopbop and La Garconne. The boots I wanted were (last time I checked) literally the same exact price online.
If you haven’t yet stopped by Savvy NYC’s L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers sample sale, now would be a good time. Staffers told shoppers who went on the first day that 90 more boxes were due to arrive today! I hear Jill Stuart and Kidrobot bags are also now included in the sale.
I went early yesterday morning right when the sale opened, and was able to snag a couple cute handbags I’d never seen, that I’m not quite sure actually went into production. One of the bags even had a small manufacturers tag listing the sample details and reference numbers. Overall, the sale was quite a bit smaller than the sales of the past. A lot of the merchandise was older, some from as far back as the very first season of lux l.a.m.b bags. But prices were lower than ever! This was my 4th or 5th l.a.m.b bag sale. I can’t even keep track. The bags I really wanted (Etoile Hobos) didn’t seem to be in stock. But I still went home happy:
Before I left, I shot a quick video of the items in stock. You can see some sample/never produced bags on the arms of fellow shoppers:
The sale is at 307 W. 38th st, starting at 10am daily, and continuing until 6pm Friday (Pretty sure it’s been extended an extra day!).
It’s time for another one of my favorite bi-annual sample sales! The L.A.M.B and Harajuku Lovers sale promises some of the best handbag deals in NYC. Last season, large handbags were only $150!
Prices usually decrease drastically on the last day, so if you can hold out you’ll get an even better deal!
See last season’s sale report here.
Now that Memorial Day has passed, it feels like Summer has officially started! It wouldn’t be summer in New York with out street fairs, sample sales, and craft fairs! Here are some of my best bets for June:
Renegade Craft Fair. One of my favorite annual nyc fairs:
Renegade Craft Fair.
Check back for more events TBA!
