One of the features I miss doing is a weekly NYC event roundup! Since this is a typical summer, with more events than any one person could possibly attend, I’ve found a handful of interesting events and sales to share–all happening in the upcoming week.
Tomorrow, United Bamboo is hosting a sample sale. Not only can you buy awesome clothes at good prices, you can help support Japan: 100% of the proceeds will be donated to earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.
Do something good, and get a killer wardrobe at the same time!
There are a lot of amazing events going on nyc this week. So many, it’s going to be tough for me to choose!
Greenpoint Flea Market: Clothing, Food, and Craft Vendors! Every Friday from 12-8pm!
Sunday, I’m seeing Band of Horses with Grizzly Bear and Karen Elson on the Williamsburg Waterfront. Friday they’ll be playing a FREE SHOW at Grand Central Terminal.
Backyard Bazaar in Greenpoint: ” Come summer with us. Good times for the next 3 months. ******** ***An open air market, Hosted by In God We Trust & The Parlour Brooklyn*** Over a dozen vendors of antiques, vintage, jewelry, clothing and other unique goods provided by local artisans and designers. “Plus free beer and mimosas!
CREST FESTArt Show in Williamsburg: Featuring live music, food vendors, arts & crafts for sale, and more!
Stopped by the Matt Bernson shoe sample sale today around 12:30pm. The sale started at noon, and was already in full swing when I arrived. Next year, I’ll be arriving early!
Shoppers heading in.
I hear the wedges were the first to go! Many people were looking for them, only to be disappointed. The sale was a bit smaller space wise than last year’s but with more customers! I still managed to grab four pairs of sandals to try on. Matt himself was there (minus his dog this time but plus his father!) helping customers find additional sizes. The sandals seem to have changed a bit–they now have thicker soles, and are no longer available in half sizes. The soles have improved for the better, but this meant the 8’s were too small for me, and the 9’s, which in previous seasons were too big, now fit. I snagged a chair and sat down to try them on.
After briefly chatting with Matt, and some fellow customers, I ended up going home with 2 pairs of sandals and two studded bracelets. Not sure of the sandals’ style name, but I bought the same pair in both black leather and gold.
Sandals were $40 each, and the bracelets ranged from $5-15. If you’re interested in grabbing your own pair of sandals, act fast— The staffers weren’t sure there would be stock for Saturday’s shoppers!
Just in case you missed the big sale last month at Save Fashion, jewelry brand Made Her Think, famous for their mix of edgy and beautiful is having a 60% off sale starting tomorrow at their studio on Chrystie street. I know I regret not picking up any of their amazing studded rings and necklaces, so this sale is not to be missed!
July 16th and 17th.

One of my long time favorite brands, L.A.M.B had a private sale on Friday, and I was lucky enough to have the invite forwarded to me by a good friends, and fellow L.A.M.B fan. This is the 4th or 5th lamb sample sale I’ve attended since moving to New York in 2006. And as always, it did not disappoint! The majority of the current season was available in all sizes, plus some deeply discounted “irregular” items from the past few seasons. And a few treasures from as far back as the very first season of L.A.M.B, such as the rasta print” bum flap” of Spring 2004!
I found my one “must have” item, the Doti Dress, for $100 instead of $295!

I also grabbed a white “baby elephant” hoodie for a friend in California, and two tanks:
(Second tank not pictured, due to my inability to keep things wrinkle free after one day.)
I managed to snap a few camera phone pics of the racks, and a shot of the price list:
Special thanks to Casey at L.A.M.B for always being so nice and helpful at the sample sales! It’s always a such pleasure chatting with her, and even better when she gives a special shout out to Tenacity, a boutique my friend Erica runs in the Chicago area that always stocks a TON of lamb.
The GenArt Shop New York event is tonight. I won’t be attending, since I’m currently tearing apart my house cleaning trying to make room for all the clothes and shoes I already own. But it looks like some of the goodies are for sale online too at Yoox!
