Rachel Comey Resort 2013 Photo Shoot: Behind the Scenes

A few weeks ago, I was invited to take a behind the scenes look at Rachel Comey’s Resort 2013 collection photo shoot. Now that everything is officially public, I can share my photos here!

The hair and makeup were pure “natural beauty”. Which helped compliment the gorgeous, fun prints Rachel Comey is known for.

Tools of the trade.

A closer look.

The perfect, wavy hair-do.

I was surprised by the fun sprinkling of ultra bright colors into the Resort collection. And the addition of denim!

And one of my favorite things, as always– the shoes!

Love these!

More photos from my Fashion Week archives. I re-discovered these files stuffed between two fashion shows on my external hard drive. Which is fortunate, because these shoes are amazing!

Last September, I was able to make a quick stop over at the Alejandro Ingelmo show room with the ladies of Styled On. Inside, we found an overwhelming array of breathtakingly beautiful shoes.

Rebecca Minkoff S/S 2011

Last September, Rebecca Minkoff’s spring 2011 presentation at Lincoln Center’s “Box” showcased a collection exactly like most of us have come to expect: A mix of girly and sweet, chains and studs, mixed in with ladylike handbags and dresses. Only this season, there were shoes too!

Sneak Peak: Rebecca Minkoff
One of my personal favorites.

The collection was influenced by “a woman yearning for glamour, transfixed by reconstructed vintage and ’70s-inspired frocks.”

Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast

Rebecca’s collections never disappoint. With the addition of more variety of styles, there is literally a bag for everyone in her Spring 2011 line.

Call It Spring Grand Opening Event

Right before Labor Day weekend started, I was invited to check out the new Call It Spring shoe store in the Manhattan Mall near 34th Street. A sort of sister store to ALDO, Call It Spring has dozens of cute and trendy shoes, that won’t break the bank!

Shine Media PR and Call It Spring both hosted the grand opening event, which drew quite a crowd! Guest browsed the shoe selection, while sipping delicious cocktails like white sangria. And a DJ spun in the back of the store.

I actually arrived a bit late, as I was making a mad dash from a photo shoot down in DUMBO. I’d read reports on twitter about how many people were there. Even arriving in the last thirty minutes, the event was still packed! Thankfully, I still made it in time to join in the fun and pick out some cute shoes.

A live twitter feed of the event.

The men’s section.

CIS also carries some great bags as well!

I was lucky enough to go home with 3 great pairs, perfect for the upcoming fall season. Every season, I’m guilty of buying too many sandals then have nothing to wear in the fall and winter. So they were just what I needed!

The perfect granny bootie.

Another pair of warm booties.

Thank you to Robyn at Shine and to Call It Spring for the great shoes!

Dolce Vita for Target

Talk about a collaboration that took me by surprise! Dolce Vita for Target quietly debuted on Target.com recently. I first noticed it while helping my roommate search for combat boots. The “not available” sign next to the listing made me think I’d missed out. Turns out the boots aren’t for sale yet, and there are two more styles!

Grey Oxfords, $24.99!

Buckle Boots, $34.99

The Harlem Target store will be selling them when they officially open this Sunday, and they’ll be available online and in select Target stores August 22nd. I own quite a few pairs of Dolce Vita shoes, so I’m really excited to see how these turn out. And their release comes at a perfect time–I was just thinking about how I need some new closed toed shoes. As much as I like them, 90% of my shoes are sandals–and that is just not practical during cold nyc winters.

EDIT: More shoes have been added! Studded ballet flats are now on Target.com too!

Never Gonna Stop Loving You

Halo Teardrop Boots, $148

Jeffrey Campbell sure loves Ann Demeulemeester! I was just browsing the huge new shoe shipment at Nasty Gal Vintage, and noticed these two new pairs of JC wedge boots. These have to be the 9th and 10th pair of JC’s Ann D inspired shoes, but this time he changed them up a bit to make them his own.

Korova Lace Up Boot, $198.

I really like both pairs– can’t wear them due to my bad knee making me walk all wobbly in heels, but I’d probably buy the black if I could. The cream boots are cute, but verging dangerously close to figure skating wear territory.

There are some other gorgeous JC shoes for sale at Nasty Gal. I just wish Jeffrey Campbell would make more creative looking FLATS! There is a huge market of women who don’t wear heels much, but would like something more than average old ballet flats. Perfect opportunity for you Jeffrey! And I’m still waiting on a shoe company (any shoe company!) to produce a knockoff of the Ann D flat corset boots. Why isn’t anyone getting on that?

ShopBop currently has a discount code for an extra 25% off of sale items. Good until 11:59pm on July 2nd! There are some great items on sale, especially in the shoe and handbag categories.
